A Written Second Opinion on a Filed Return

Problems on a filed return often surface only when the IRS finds them: a missed credit, a self-employment number that does not tie out, an S-corp with no reasonable salary, or foreign accounts left off.

Return Checkup is a flat-fee way to find out. You upload the return through a private encrypted link, and an Enrolled Agent - enrolled to practice before the IRS - reads it and tells you in writing what looks right, what is worth a second look, and whether an amendment is worth filing.

Built for documents, not data harvesting

  • Encrypted at rest; visible only to the reviewing Enrolled Agent
  • Never used to train AI; never sold or shared
  • Deleted 90 days after your engagement closes
  • Zero analytics or ad code on the upload pages

How It Works

Four steps, with timing confirmed in writing and no email attachments.

Step 1

Pay

Check out securely with Stripe ($199).

Step 2

Upload

You land on your private upload page. Add every page of the return as PDF or photos.

Step 3

Review

The Enrolled Agent reads the return for errors, missed deductions or credits, and risk.

Step 4

Your checkup

A written second opinion arrives by email on the timeline confirmed with you in writing.

The amended-return window

A refund from an amended return is generally only claimable within three years of the original filing. If your return is close to that window, a checkup before it closes can show whether an amendment is still worth filing.

How every engagement is checked

Every engagement runs through the same written procedure. It is the reason the fee is what it is, and you can hold us to it.

  1. 1Scope and fee in writing before any work begins.
  2. 2Documents arrive through the secure client portal, not as email attachments.
  3. 3A second review on a different day, against a written checklist, before anything is filed.
  4. 4If the IRS writes about a return we prepared, reviewing the notice with you is free. Any response or representation beyond that review is quoted in writing first.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about this service area.

Want a second look at a filed return?

An Enrolled Agent reads the return and answers in writing: what looks right, what to double-check, and whether an amendment is worth filing. Timing is confirmed with you in writing.

Arc & Ledger takes on work selectively. Each request is reviewed for fit with our practice areas, and scope and timing are confirmed in writing before an engagement begins.

A secure Client Portal invitation is sent only after Arc & Ledger accepts the engagement or you purchase an available fixed-scope service. A call, waitlist entry, or contact form alone does not create portal access.
